PRP is properly prepared |
Platelet-rich plasma or PRP is an ultrafiltrate of whole blood that contains a large number (approximately two million) of viable living platelets. Multiple in vitro and clinical studies have demonstrated the potential of PRP to heal damaged tissue as a result of the tremendous amount of growth and healing factors present in the alpha granules of platelets.
When a patient is seen for a PRP procedure, the PRP is properly prepared so that the platelets are viable. Then, using strict aseptic technique, the PRP is administered with precise ultrasound guidance using special fenestration and “bevel up” curved needle methods. PRP, in our hands, has helped scores of people with chronic tendonitis, bursitis, and fasciitis to recover and to regain mobility.
