Study Says Fish Oil Enhances Benefits Of Exercise For The Elderly.

Nick Collins writing in the Daily Telegraph reported “a combination of regular doses of fish oil and gym exercises improved the muscular strength of a group of women in their late sixties by 20 per cent in a new study.” According to the article, “a control group who took part in the twice-weekly, 30-minute exercise sessions but did not take fish oil increased their muscle power by 11 per cent.” The Telegraph adds that researchers from Aberdeen University “said the difference could be down to the effects of DHA and EPA, types of Omega 3 fatty acid found in fish oil that have anti-inflammatory properties.”

Another plus for fish oil.  I now have another excuse to go fishing.

Fishing and arthritis

Eating fish is good for you.  It helps with amino acids which help you with inflammation.  That’s why fish oil is such an important part of a diet for a person with arthritis.  Another tip is that shellfish is not good for someone with gout.  Shellfish is high in purines which can bring on an attack of gout.
